The Episcopal Church of St Mary-in-the-Highlands has been literally at the heart of Cold Spring since 1840. The current Church was erected in 1868.
Sunday Masses are at 8:00 and 10:30 am. We offer child care and Sunday School during the 10:30 am service.
St Mary's is a vibrant parish community consisting of a cross section of young families, middle-aged empty nesters, professionals, retired seniors and others.
Located in the Cold Spring National Register Historic District, our beautiful stone Church nestled in the spectacular Hudson Highlands has been called The Cathedral of the Hudson Valley for its graceful grey granite spire rising 128 feet above the village of Cold Spring.
We have a marvelous hall that is available for rentals. It is equipped with a full kitchen and you will find it perfect for meetings, weddings, and receptions of all kinds.
Music is a very important part of your wedding service. The Rector and the Organist will be in charge of this portion of your wedding. If you desire a different organist (rather than our parish organist) that organist must be approved by the Rector. Select your music as soon as possible after you meet with the organist to allow for plenty of practice time. Soloists, either vocal or instrumental, must practice with the organist before the wedding is to take place.
Music before the service: Unless you specifically want named pieces prior to the Bride's arrival, we advise that you leave this to the discretion of our organist. We generally aim to play at least ten minutes before the starting time of the service.
Music for the Bridal Procession: With very few exceptions, this music is probably the shortest piece you will have to select, simply because the time taken to walk down the nave of St Mary's very rarely exceeds 90 seconds. Strange - but true! There is nothing worse than the Bride, Groom, and Priest waiting for the music to stop in order to be able to proceed with the ceremony. There are few pieces which can survive "cutting" and retain any musical integrity. The following suggestions are all suitable for the purpose and are the right length, or can be tailored without the "scissor-marks" showing. Please note, whilst Wagner's "Bridal March" and Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" are the first works which come to mind for a wedding, we would encourage you to consider some of the other great works of organ literature. (These lists, whilst fairly comprehensive, are by no means exhaustive and we are always happy to discuss special requests).
